CONCEPT

 

Away With The Fareys is an invite only event set up by Joe Farey on his own private land. It is essentially a mini festival showcasing a combination of folk, disco and house music. This event was created to support the Multiple Sclerosis Society Wales and at £15 a ticket with 1000 attendees, it's safe to say that a sufficient amount of funds was raised for the cause. This was a bring your own booze event however beer and water was available at the 'Lumber Snacks' store as well as locally sourced meat for burgers. There was also a spectacular firework display at midnight to mark the end of the live music and the beginning of the DJ sets.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

After thoroughly enjoying Away With The Farey's in 2013 as an attendee, I informed the creators that I was really interested in working on the event in the future. Upon exchanging details I got in touch with them the following year and agreed to head event design. My role required me to design the site plan and manage the decor for each staging area. I was given a budget to buy materials such as draping and fairy lights and helped construct the staging areas in the days leading up to the event. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this event as it was the first time I had lead event design and the end product made me more positive in my ability to deliver charming event design. I learnt that I perform well when there is a certain standard of work expected from me, as I love to exceed expectations rather than disappoint.
