CONCEPT

The concept for this event was to successfully recreate that of Holifest in London also known as Festival of Colours as an event that would appeal to students in Falmouth. This event originates in India, originally as an ancient Hindu religious festival. The festival has recently spread to other parts of the world such as Europe and North America as a spring celebration of love, frolic and colours. We aim to bring this exciting festivity to Falmouth in order for students and local residents to enjoy and appreciate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Each of the five event managers of this project had equal responsibilities. My main responsibilities lay in event design, promotion, marketing and time management. Although other team members were in charge of other aspects, we still worked together on all areas of the project. I worked hard developing the event theme in terms of layout and decor, drawing up schedules of payment, promotion material release and the on-the-night schedule. Although the unique event theme encouraged much interest from students, it was difficult to ensure their commitment to the event. With numerous other student events taking place at the time, thorough and tactical marketing measures needed to be put in place in order to encourage early ticket sales. Colourfields had a sufficient social media presence, this meant that the team had to take turns controlling the Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages to keep on top of consumer needs and desires. From working on this event I learnt that if the whole event team is motivated and enthusiastic about the project that you are working on then it is bound to be successful. Having team members with different strengths is ideal as they can be utilised to ensure that every aspect of the project is of a high standrard of work, it is important to choose who you work with wisely.
