Magic on the Mersey
CONCEPT
‘Magic on the Mersey’ was a boat party created by freelance Events coordinator James Stone. Mr. Stone is a Liverpool socialite and has worked for many clubs in Liverpool, doing various PR jobs. After working a season in Ibiza he was inspired to come back toi Liverpool and throw his own Ibiza style boat party. There is a huge hype amongst young people in Liverpool about holidaying in the party island of Ibiza and many well known PR people live there for the summer, continuing their work overseas. If you were from Liverpool and holidaying in Ibiza, Mr. Stone and his close network of fellow socialites were the people to see for tickets to the biggest events, including the boat parties that were held by Liverpool nightclub ‘Garlands’. Magic on the Mersey was a means of recreating the Garlands boat party in Liverpool to get attendees excited for their upcoming summer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As the marketing director my role was to manage the social network pages, create the imagery for these pages and film and edit the promotional videos. I was also to act as photographer on the night of the event and I was in charge of wristband design and distribution. Mr. Stone and I had worked together previously on events for a local bar called Harry’s and had developed a strong working relationship, therefore I was more than happy to be marketing director for Magic on the Mersey. Twitter and Facebook pages were created a few months prior to the event and once the promotional videos were filmed and edited they were released one by one over a number of weeks. The promotional videos can be viewed below. Upon working on this event I realised the importance of thorough marketing and promotion, the success off this event gave me increased confidence in my abilities and reiterated my desire to have a fullfilling events management career.
