CONCEPT
This was a childrens Halloween event held in Newquay town set up by Mackerel Sky. The afternoon began with Halloween activities in Cribbar Newquay including lucky dip, apple bobbing, face painting and photo booth. After an hour of activities the children and parents were led through Falmouth town to the Royal Victoria Hotel to enjoy a performance by Titan the robot. This event attracted many attendees and it was impossible to ignore the fact that it was Halloween in Newquay. This event was the perfect insight into how Halloween is celebrated by children in current times and positively assisted my Dissertation research.
RESPONSIBILITIES
During the activities at Cribbar I manned the lucky dip station and then the apple bobbing station, I feel that during these activities I developed my skills in working with children as I realised they require a lot more attention and instruction than adults. I then helped lead the walk from Cribbar, through town to the Royal Victoria Hotel, all roads but the final one were closed off for the walk, this final road required extra care in keeping the children on route and out of danger. Finally, the performance by Titan the robot meant that a clear walk way had to be made inside the venue and the guests were to be directed to a location where they could view the performance. I learnt that when working on events with a large audience and especially with a lot of children you have to be extremely alert and aware of your surroundings and the whole team must communicate effectively.
