CONCEPT
The concept for this event was to successfully recreate the story of Narnia in St George's Hall in Liverpool. This was a charitable project constructed by the christian organization In Another Place. This event relied heavily on event design, guests were welcomed into St George's hall and then directed to a room resembling the children's bedroom in the film, where a story teller would begin the story. They were then taken to various scene recreations from The Chronicles of Narnia such as Mr Tumnass' house, the beavers burrow and the Snow Queen's castle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
My role required me to work on props and event design every wednesday evening in the weeks leading up to the event. I helped to make costumes, paint sets and plan the site. I also asissted the make up artist with the actors make up on the day and lead attendees to each scene. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this creative project for such an amazing charity, this was the first project I worked on in which I realised how much I appreciate event design and often found myself imagining how I would have approached the project if I was in charge. I learnt that some events are extremely reliant on volunteers and in order to attract help there needs to be a worthwhile cause, an enthusiastic working environment and gratitude from organisers.
